Czech Strawberry Season Has Started!

  • Warm weather of recent days is welcoming news not only those fond of trips (both hikers and cyclists) but also those fond of fruits, especially cherries and strawberries. Though early-May freeze might have put strawberry crop at risk, these weather changes should not result in lower availability of strawberries grown in the Czech Republic. The best place to buy delicious juicy Czech strawberries is at local farmers who sell them all over the country.
Moreover, strawberries can be also picked up at small strawberry fields. Those places are opened depending on strawberry ripeness and local farmers inform you which lines are already available for picking. The pick-your-own farms can be found at different places all over the country, for example in Kunratice close to Prague, in Rataje nad Sázavou, in Klatovy, in Turnov in Liberecký Region, in Brno or Bratčice “Jahodárna” in South Moravian Region. If you are fond of strawberry delicacies but do not fancy preparing them yourselves, we recommend tasting Czech strawberry meals for example in Czech Specials certified restaurant in the Horizont Hotel in Pec pod Sněžkou, which gives you great opportunity to enjoy gourmet experience as well as hiking in the Czech highest mountains. The offer is available between 6 and 29 June, inviting you to taste delicacies such as strawberry soup, fresh fried strawberries with cinnamon and ice cream and, last but not least, traditional quark dumplings filled with strawberries.
