Surrounded by vineyards and therefore reputed for producing great wine, the picturesque South Moravian town of Mikulov invites this time for beer, hosting Mikulov Beer Festival (Mikulovské Pivobraní). Taking place on Saturday 9 August already for the fourth time, this event features beer fair, offering thus its visitors more than seventy types of beer and beer specialties, with accompanying programme including a wide range of games and competitions, “sausage feast”, as well as rock band performances. If you visit Mikulov during the weekend, you might attend for example “Ceremonial Shutting off the Mountain and Open-Air Wine Tasting” with cimbalom music (prior reservation necessary). To please your tastes, try Czech Specials certified restaurant in the Marcinčák Hotel, surrounded by lavenders, where you will be offered great meals made with fresh ingredients and herbs grown in the Hotel garden. While strolling around the town, just stop over at charming Café Fara in closely located village of Klentnice which serves not only delicious coffee but this weekend also specialties made of summer truffles, a real treat.
