Beer to Water down and Baste the Meals
Beer can be used to add curious flavour to goulash, to prepare brewer’s cabbage soup with mushrooms and cream or to be basted on chicken roasted with cabbage. Real delicacy is pork knee roasted on dark beer, to be prepared following
this recipe. Moreover, beer is a great match when preparing fish: either as a basis of batter for cooking a pikeperch or for basting and stewing. If you are looking for a simple and good-tasting recipe, try carp on beer. To prepare four portions, you will need about half bottle of light beer. Season the carp with salt and pepper, pour over some beer and let stay for about an hour. Cut onion, stir fry in oil, add the carp, pour over the beer and season with ground pepper and cumin. Stew until tender and when ready, pour over some lemon juice. It should be served ideally with mashed potatoes. If you want a dessert with your afternoon coffee, try beer strudel using
our recipe.
