Recently, towns and cities regularly host markets selling fruits, vegetables, meat and meat products, cheese, dairy products, bread, sweet and salty pastries, juices, wine and other delicacies. Known under the common name farmers markets, their idea is to provide opportunity to local producers and farmers taking care about good quality and fair approach. Offering a wide variety of seasonal products, the markets also attract by the possibility to talk directly to farmers and producers. In March, farmers markets will start again in the capital of Prague. Kubánské square in Prague 10 district, one of the farmers markets pioneers, will open the market season on Saturday 7 March and from then on there will be regular markets on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Apart from the above-mentioned delicacies they will offer also herbs, flowers, cheese, honey, wine, spirits or sweet cakes with high-quality coffee. Since 2010, markets are regularly held at Vítězné square in Dejvice district, nowadays one of the largest markets where visitors can buy various products as well as enjoy high-quality food. This season will start on Saturday 7 March. Other popular markets attracting many visitors are situated at Jiří z Poděbrad square, held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and on the waterfront near Palacký square, organized on Saturdays. Visitors can find there also fresh meat from Czech farms, meat products from family-owned butcheries or home-grown eggs.
